The 2011 first-round draft pick for 3 consecutive years, from 2014-2016, was rated by Baseball America the top prospect in the system...in 2015 led the organization in strikeouts, was International League Pitcher of the Week for 7/27-8/2 and following the season was rated the best pitching prospect in the IL...in 2014 was a Southern League All-Star, was on the U.S. roster for the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Min's Target Field and following the season was rated by Baseball America the best pitching prospect in the Southern League and the league's pitcher with the best fastball...in 2013 was the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year, a Midwest League All-Star and the Reds' Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May...in 2014 and 2015 attended Major League spring training camp as a non-roster invitee...attended Alhambra High School in Martinez, CA, where in 2011 he opened his senior season with consecutive no-hitters...in 13 apps that year went 7-2, 1.33 (64ip, 29h, 23bb, 132k) and was named the San Jose Mercury News' Gatorade California Player of the Year...while at Alhambra High touched 97 miles per hour on the radar gun...held a 4.2 grade point average in high school.
